Snowboat was the first variety to win a Fleuroselect Gold Medal and an All-America Selections award. As a triploid this hybrid Marigold showed considerably better uniformity. It was also found to be earlier than existing varieties, the first flowers appearing within five weeks from seed.
When trialled in 1971 this variety was awarded a Gold Medal for its floriferousness, vigour and dwarf habit.
When trialed in 1971 Tangara was judged to be a perceptible improvement the flowers being bigger than the varieties available at that time. It is compact and stands erect thanks to the rigidness of its stems. Sown in spring, it flowers unceasingly from July to September. A hardy annual, it adapts itself to any soil and any condition (sun or shadow).
When judged in 1972 this variety was 10 days earlier and had a more compact habit.
