Tropaeolum minus or compact nasturtium is a perennial plant endemic to the mountainous regions of Ecuador and Peru. Growing:

sow in light, sandy medium, no fertilizer and excellent drainage. Germinates in 2 - 3 weeks at 150C. Transplant within 3 - 4 weeks of sowing to 9 cm pots, or 3 plants in 12 cm pots. Root pruning at time of transplant benefits the crop. Grow on 9 - 10 weeks, day temperature 180C, minimal water and feeding, and full sun. After bud formation, raise day temperature to 210 - 240 C. Maximum light intensity. Crop should be ready for sale 1-2 weeks following these conditions. Sell when first bloom opens.
