On Tuesday 2nd May, Sally van der Horst, Secretary of Fleuroselect, baptised the brand new 'Pelargonium Toscana Sally' at Beach Club O in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. This additional colour in the Toscana series was dedicated to Sally in celebration of her 25 years of service with Fleuroselect, the international organisation of the pot en bedding plant breeders. Surrounded by approx. 50 members and industry relations, a beaming Sally poured a glass of Prosecco over the new variety. Pelargonium Toscana 'Sally' is bred by Florensis and grown by Perry van der Haak (NL).

Limitless dedication
Jean-François Ignasse, vice-president of Fleuroselect: "Fleuroselect has made a giant leap forward over the past few years. The organisation has gained substantial recognition within the sector. The Gold Medal and FleuroStar winners are strongly promoted on an international level and the number of entries in our trials is on the rise. Our yearly member conventions and industry events such as our Home Garden and Breeders & Young Plant Producers Conferences are popular networking moments. Additionally, we are proud of our cooperation with the FlowerTrials. As an international organisation for pot and bedding plant breeders, we thought 'Pelargonium Toscana Sally' was the most appropriate way to thank Sally for her endless dedication and enthusiasm during the past 25 years.

Beautiful industry
"It is all about plants and people", stated Sally. "If anything makes this business amazing, it is the wonderful people with whom we work on a daily basis. Together with the magnificent product, those are the two elements that have clearly marked the past 25 years for me. We are so lucky to work in this beautiful industry."
