Market Value

This strong, compact early blooming 'Floral Power' orange red wing will stand out from the vast assortment of violas and pansies on display in garden centres through its striking and uniform colour combination and the masses of flowers all appearing at the same time in the pack. When sown for spring flowering they will provide the first splash of colour after the long winter, as autumn bloomers they will prolong the colours of summer and cheer up a dull grey day.

Background Information

Viola x williamsiana is a hybrid complex of species belonging to the family Violaceae which originate from the mountainous areas of Europe. They go by the common names of Violas. The many different species all have distinguishable common features, but also differ widely in flower size, shape, colour and habit. They have undergone so much crossing over the years that the precise genetic origins are difficult to define. Violas are much loved and extremely versatile plants. They give a wonderful colour contrast in rock gardens, brighten up borders in the garden, decorate the patio in pots and brighten up the balcony in window boxes. Most of them smile back at you with a "face" formed by a whimsical patterning of colour blotches, making the pansy the happiest plant in the garden. With expressions ranging from mischievous to adorable to jolly, pansies are the pixies of the plant world. Whether grown in pots, troughs, or as mass plantings, Violas are classics that never seem to go out of fashion. They are great for mass bedding too!
