MARKET VALUE

Growers are universally impressed by the uniformity, the plant structure and the flower-power of these multi season performers. Less stretch, less waste, more performance and more profit! The series has a tight flowering window across all colours, so growers can schedule and ship a wide range of Viola colours with complete confidence. Shorter peduncle length, less stretch and a fully mounded habit means growers send the best-looking violas to retail and cut back on shrinkage. Fewer PGRs are needed for more economical and ecological production. Landscapers love the uniformity that enables them to plant a spring or autumn carpet of bright colours. Retailers and Consumers will love the stunning new colour pattern, with its bright 'face' that seems to be basking in the spring or autumn sunshine, and keeps flowering abundantly throughout the season.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Violas are small relatives of Pansies, and belong to the family Violaceae, which has undergone so much crossing over the years that the precise genetic origins are difficult to define. Violas are theoretically perennials, but are generally grown as annuals, sown in the spring for June - October flowering, or as biennials, sown in the winter for March - August flowering. Violas are much loved, grateful plants, which are used for an enormous variety of uses and applications. They give a wonderful colour contrast in rock gardens, peek out from under taller plants in borders, brighten up containers, baskets and window boxes and generally show their happy sunny faces wherever they are planted. When sown for spring flowering they provide the first splash of colour after the long winter, as autumn flowerers they prolong the colours of summer and cheer up a dull grey day. Regular deadheading will prolong the display, and Viola x cornuta tends to be hardier and more weather resistant than its Pansy relatives with their larger flowers. The Sorbet XP Series is a complete new generation in Viola cornuta. PanAmerican Seed Breeder Troy Thorup has created a viola series that delivers amazing uniformity across a wide range of dazzling colours. Uniformity of flower size, habit, germination, seedling vigour and flowering time. Add the unique, new colour and flower pattern in a very popular tint in Viola, and it is clear to see why Sorbet XP Delft Blue is a sure-fire winner!
