Francesca Lanzillotta, marketing and communications manager at MNP/Suntory; “Winning FleuroStar Award has really kickstarted the commercial journey of Mandevilla Double Blush Pink. The days following the announcement, almost every trade magazine has been contacting us for photos and additional information, resulting in an enormous amount of press coverage.

Subsequently, the demand for this new double-flowered Mandevilla has increased enormously and all our suppliers are currently working very hard to meet the high demand. So far, we could not have been happier with the outcome!

 

 

 

Florensis with Petunia grandiflora Bee's Knees

Winner 2022/2023;

"The sales numbers for Bee's Knees has increased significantly since winning the FleuroStar Award in June, which requires that we double production of the nut plants (moerplanten).

I'm excited to see how Fleuroselect brings the intense eye-catching yellow colour to life at the Trade Fair in Aalsmeer, as the plant is presented in large and small pots."

 

 

 

 

Dümmen Orange with Begonia I'CONIA Aroma Peach

Winner 2021/2022;

"In addition to upscaling our production, we have also invested time and energy into bringing the fragrance story across at point of sale level by inviting retailers to visit our gardens and smell the sweet scent of this wonderful winner themselves.

Beekenkamp with Begonia elatior Dreams Garden MacaRouge

Winner 2019/2020;

Excellent genetics and high product quality are key to remain at the top in the long term. The success of Begonia MacaRouge and its sister MacaRose perfectly illustrates the potential Beekenkamp has in breeding its own lines. I am excited about the commercial path MacaRouge is taking and together with Fleuroselect we are looking forward to presenting it to the industry next week at the Aalsmeer Trade Fair.

 

 

 

Selecta one with Osteospermum ecklonis Purple Sun

Winner 2018/2019;

After winning FleuroStar in 2018, there has simply been no stopping Osteospermum Purple Sun. This latest colour sensation from Selecta one was sold out in no time. Ton de Bresser, Sales Area Manager Netherlands: “As soon as the winner was announced,our sales skyrocketed. We had to upscale our cutting production to cope with the demand.”

Like the summer sun setting over the ocean, such is the colour play of this Osteo. Several shades of orange fade into a deep purple ring that surrounds the heart ofthe flower. Consumers will love the novel non-fading colours and excellent outdoorperformance of one of the most popular garden plants.

 

 

Calibrachoa MiniFamous® Double PinkTastic

Winner 2017/2018;

After winning FleuroStar 2017, Calibrachoa Double PinkTastic immediately entered the top 5 of Selecta one’s Calibrachoa sales charts. What a launch into the industry! Anita Stöver, breeder at Selecta one: “Ever since I started breeding Calibrachoa I had this vision of creating a rose-flowered variety . I’ve greatly improved the rooting, branching and flowering period and when I finally selected this bi-coloured double Calibrachoa, I knew it was something special.


PinkTastic enjoys all the benefits of the MiniFamous® series, such as easy growth, improved root system, the very early flowering and mildew tolerance. With I’CONIA, the company created an innovative concept and relaunched the entire product group as trendy, care-free garden performers.”

Winner 2014/2015;

Harm Custers, Head of Marketing EMEA at Takii Europe: “Taking part in FleuroStar 2014 boosted the market introduction of Canna Cannova massively. The FleuroStar stage and accompanying marketing activities ensured an extended visibility of the Cannova brand and our company. Winning the Contest brought Cannova and Takii additional recognition and credibility, and generated a huge wave of media and industry attention which we never would have obtained on our own.”

 

 

 

 

Syngenta Flowers with Gerbera jamesonii 'Cartwheel® Strawberry Twist'

Winner 2013/2014;

After winning FleuroStar 2013 with Gerbera Cartwheel Strawberry Twist, breeder Kathryn Verlinden from Syngenta Flowers shared her source of inspiration: “I was fascinated by the huge range of colour patterns existing in cut flower Gerberas. We therefore started experimenting with the introduction of cut flower genetics into pot Gerberas. Cartwheel® Strawberry Twist offers the colour explosion of a cut flower Gerbera bouquet to pots and containers for both the home and patio.”

 

 

 

 

 

Syngenta Flowers with Verbena x hybrida Lanai Twister Red

Winner 2012/2013;

FleuroStar is all about the ‘wow’ factor and Verbena Lanai Twister Red from Syngenta
Flowers was the perfect example of a real breakthrough in the trade. When accepting
the award in 2012, breeder Har Stemkens said: “Multi-colouring is an important trend
in the horticultural sector. Inspired by the popular assortment trays, I wanted to create
a unique flower pattern offering stunning colours in one flower.”

 

 

 

ABZ Seeds with Fragaria x ananassa Duch. Toscana

Winner 2011/2012;

A strawberry sensation took FleuroStar by storm in 2011. Fragaria x ananassa Duch. Toscana by ABZ Seeds was chosen as the winner for its
decorative, dark pink blossoms and striking cone-shaped fruit. The variety forms attractive fruiting and flowering runners and can yield up to 1 kg of
fruit for the hobby gardener. This unique combination was judged by the FleuroStar jury to be a winning breakthrough, fitting perfectly into the lifestyle
trend for ‘ornamental edibles’.

 

 

 

Ball Floraplant with Petunia x hybrida Phantom

Winner 2010/2011;

In 2010 our contest for the winner with the ‘wow’ factor was officially named FleuroStar thanks to our cooperation with marketing bureau Blooms. Ball FloraPlant was one of 7 entrants and at the award ceremony in Poland was delighted to take home the prestigious award for Petunia x hybrida Phantom.

 

 

 

 

 

Syngenta Flowers with Dianthus x barbatus Diabunda® Purple Picotee

Winner 2009/2010;

Ten years ago, we announced our very first FleuroStar (at the time ‘Fleuroselect Industry Award’) winner: Dianthus x barbatus Diabunda TM Purple Picotee from Syngenta Flowers. The judges raved about the uniformity, floriferousness and excellent quality of the plants and were wildly enthusiastic about the striking, trendy purple & white colour combination. When excepting the award at the Fleuroselect Gala evening, Product Manager Gerard Werink from Syngenta Flowers explained the concept of the name as a combination of Dianthus (Dia) with abundant flowers (bunda).
